Relay For Life

Well I am pleased to say that the Purple People Eaters, survived a very wet and soggy Relay for Life Event last night.  It didn't just rain, it poured.  The venue was moved to higher ground, but was still held for the majority outdoors, and meant that everyone and everything got wet!  But the rain didn't dampen the spirits with over 100 teams and 1000 people participating.  The overall fundraising goal of $80,000 was easily passed and the number of teams participating was a new record for the Lismore Event.

This photo is of Kath and I taken by Toni

This photo is one of Kath's photos taken of her and her husband John with their wonderful
Purple People Eater Hats and our Team Baton which was crocheted by Dayle

My already tall hubby looking even taller with his mad hatter hat, manning the stand.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my wonderful team members for their great company and all those who sponsored and donated to our team. Despite the weather our very first Relay for Life was a memorable experience and we look forward to doing it all again, especially in finer weather.

Thanks for your lovely comments! And well done with the RFL...WOW! That's fantastic to make so much money ~ even with the rain....hope you're back home in a cosy warm room now! Still, compared to what cancer peeps go through, I s'pose it's a drop in the bucket ['scuse the pun]:):):):)

Our local Relay for Life event was this weekend, too! Our DKG team raised over $5000, but I haven't heard the total amount. It looks like you all had a fabulous time. This world-wide event has certainly succeeded in making major inroads in the treatment of this dreadful disease. Congratulations to the Purple People Eaters! I can see your spirits were not dampened by the downpour!
