Time for a Tea-riffic Card

Today's card is one I made for the February Stamping Technique Example for the Month's Technique Challenge over at the ScrapLounge.

I am calling it my Tea-riffic Card as I decided to break out my Morning Cup Stamp Set by Stampin' Up! which is filled with lots of lovely tea cups, coffee mugs and tea pots etc.  The sentiment I wanted to use was PERK UP! and I had an idea of incorporating a pocket on the front of the card to include a tea or coffee bag with it for the recipient.  I didn't have a fancy sealed in bag tea bag to use for my example, so I have used an ordinary teabag to give you the idea.

The technique I wanted to use was what is referred to as the Faux Mother of Pearl technique however I mixed this up a little using some other colours of metallic Acrylic Paint not just the pearlescent white.  It created a bit of a marble effect in the brown/copper tones to match my card base.

You simply apply the acrylic shimmer paints to the gloss white card stock with a scrunched up bit of glad wrap, ensuring you do not cover the card entirely.  Once dry you take your desired colour of distress inks.  In my case it was Dried Marigold and rub over the gloss card you have painted.  This will allow the colour to fill in the gaps.  Once dry with a slightly damp cloth you wipe over the surface until you have your desired look.  You can reapply the distress ink etc if you want more colour.  So now you have a shimmery marbly looking background you can stamp your images on.  Which is what I have done with the tea cups, coffee mugs and tea bags.  I used my SU Marker to colour in the hearts on the cup.

I repeated the technique for my front panel of my tea bag pocket. and then simply adhered to the front of the card.  And there it is a Tea-rriffic card incorporating a different technique to try and a tea bag.
